Does the stethoscope or scalpel fall on the statutory retirement on the statutory pension? Not all doctors do that for a long time. Of the 7014 active doctors who are registered with the Upper Austria Medical Association, 575 are already pension recipients. That means: almost every tenth “white jacket” (eight percent) continues to work with retirement. An increasing trend – in the summer of 2023, 495 doctors were active despite the pension – who at least illuminated the unbridled shortage of staff.
