The police and fire brigade made an unusual find on Sunday: in a stream of the Gronau in the German Quickborn (Schleswig-Holstein) a approximately three-meter-long line was discovered behind a yellow Anaconda, which is originally native in South America.
A cyclist had noticed the animal in the water north of the Feldbehnstraße and immediately informed the fire brigade. The Quickborn Volunteer Fire Brigade then moved and could find the animal.
Deposit much more difficult than expected
However, the sausage rescue has proved more difficult than expected: only after about four hours of intensive search for an expert and several phone calls was an expert snake expert who finally secured the animal.
The Anaconda, which, according to the fire brigade, was already cooled, was then taken to the nature and species protection center in Klein Abteth-Sparrieshoop (District Pinneberg). There she is now cared for as species that are suitable.
Giant Snake can dive for up to 15 minutes
The police assume that the animal was exposed. The investigation is due to a possible violation of the animal welfare law. The Quickborn police requires witnesses.
The yellow Anaconda also called Paraguay-Anakonda-CAN can be up to four meters long and weighs more than 40 kilograms. It is not toxic, but can bite powerfully and anchor her teeth in the tissue. The animals prefer to live near the water and can dive for up to 15 minutes.
