After the murder of an 85-year-old man in Feldkirch on Sunday evening, investigators are still investigating. The suspected son, who reportedly fatally injured the infirm elderly with multiple knife wounds, has still not been questioned due to his poor mental health.
The motive and background of the crime, such as a possible overstrain in the care of the 85-year-old, remained unknown for the time being. The bloody act is said to have taken place on Sunday between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. in the shared apartment Feldkirch. The victim suffered multiple stab wounds and died shortly after. A neighbor who heard the noise alerted emergency services.
Suspect in clinic
The 30-year-old son was arrested at the scene. He is currently in Rankweil State Hospital. It is unclear whether a poll can take place on Monday, a police spokesperson said.
An autopsy on the 85-year-old will take place in the coming days, police said. The National Criminal Investigation Department is conducting the investigation. Traces of the crime scene are being evaluated and witnesses are being questioned, and further information about the investigation cannot be given at this time.
