The trio on 17, 18 and 20 was on Tuesday around midnight after a local visit to Ladis on the way back to their accommodation. They passed a restaurant. They saw a food machine on the terrace.
There the men wanted to buy chocolate and threw coins according to their own explanations. “After no chocolate came out of the device, one of the men shook the machine until the goods fell into the exit slot,” the police said. Then the trio ate the sweets on a couch.

What the three did not know at the time: a witness observed the incident at some distance and then informed the restaurant operator about the incident by telephone. The 45-year-old locals then drove to the restaurant and confronted the three Germans.
The man then attacked the young men with a hay fork who was taken. “All three men were seriously injured, which is why they had to be treated on an outpatient basis in the Zams hospital,” the police said.
The 45-year-old is reported to the office of the Public Prosecution Service of Innsbruck.
