A cozy barbecue evening almost took a tragic end on Saturday for a family of eight in Linz-Belsberg. After dinner, a family member knew the Grill and ash in a winter garden. From there, toxic carbon monoxide (CO) should have entered the living space.
Family had to go to the hospital
Around 10.30 am, five adults and three children suddenly complained about headaches and warned the salvation. Fortunately, the emergency services were immediately recognized the seriousness of the situation, the police and fire brigade were added. All family members had to be taken to the hospital after first aid with suspicion of co-poisonation. Firefighters took over the ventilation of the living rooms.
Very toxic gas
Carbon monoxide is a color and odorless gas that arises during combustion processes. When it enters the airways, headaches, nausea and dizziness occur. In the worst case, it can also lead to consciousness and then to death.
Cases ended fatally
A family man (44) from Pernewang died in his garden hut around a year. The poisonous gas had escaped from an emergency generator and became a fatal fall for the 44-year-old. At that time, memories of 2021 also woke up. Two little boys (2 and 5 years old) and her mother from Lasberg held an analysis of the emergency generator in the basement. All three were fainted, only the mother survived.
