“We are the Vikings!” Call about 30 young cheerleaders synchronously, while some of them are thrown elegantly in the air. Accompanied by 4,000 viewers, the International Cheer Masters heralded the season as a fireworks -like spectacle in the Multiversum in Schwechat.
During the weekend, a total of 122 teams from Seven Nations demonstrated their skills in various disciplines and age groups. From daring stunterts in the classic group Cheerleading to energetic dance performances, the participants have shown that Cheerleading has long been a pure associated sport – but a separate competition discipline. “Cheerleading is extremely tiring, but it is also very nice and gives you more than you think,” says Markus Meißl of the national team.
