An ÖBB conductor mercilessly punished a young holiday couple on their way to the city of Vienna.
Sun, beach and sea. Julia Z. (22) and her friend Dustin B. (23) were on holiday in Crete just a few hours ago, but when they checked the tickets on the ÖBB train to Vienna, their relaxation was immediately gone. Julia and her boyfriend had to pay a fine of 105 euros per person because they bought the wrong ticket on the platform. A total of 210 euros.
What the young couple didn’t know: Schwechat airport is not in the Vienna zone, but in Lower Austria. So an extra ticket would have to be bought.
ÖBB remains merciless
“We are sorry. But the ticket was invalid. The rules of the Verkehrsverbund Ostregion apply to local transport and we must comply with them”, ÖBB confirmed the fine at the request of “Krone”. Goodwill excluded.
