The Chernobyl Atomruins is a ticking time bomb after a Russian drone attack (see video above). Greenpeace activists documented the considerable damage in the course of a dangerous secret mission.
“Our activists have traveled to Ukraine under the highest security measures and strictly secret. Because the war continues to rage, and on Thursday evening there were again mutual dangerous and massive attacks,” says Greenpeace-Europe boss Alex Egit, who sketches the brand new location in the country. As reported, a targeted Russian drone attack on 14 February had the roof of the Protective Cover (NSC) about the damaged reactor 4 of Chernobyl and was exploded in the Meiler. The fires that were subsequently broken out for weeks before they were considered removed on 7 March. But the threat remains.
“Possibly one of the most serious war crimes”
“The intentional attack of Russia on the nuclear ruins can be one of the most serious war crimes committed against Ukraine,” explains Jan van der Putte, nuclear expert in Greenpeace Ukraine. Anderising first findings: 50 percent of the north and south roof and the side walls are affected. The tap system was badly damaged. The consequences are apparently serious. Snow and rain penetrate through the inside of the protective coverage and eco album.
Heavy blow to nuclear safety
“The water, which has now been shot unhindered in the building, weakened corrosion, weakens the load-bearing elements and endangers the long-term stability of the construction. The protective marker built by two billion euros, which is intended to contain the released radiation for a century, has now become a tapping time bomb,” confirms. According to their special mission, they have found a difficult blow to nuclear safety in Europe.
