According to exit polls – Hungarian elections: Orban’s Fidesz party is in front

Date:

In the Hungarian parliamentary elections, shortly after polling stations close at 7 p.m., there are signs that ruling party Fidesz will take the lead. This is apparent from an investigation after the elections of the Median Institute, Hungarian state television reported on Sunday evening.

For example, Fidesz gets 121 and the opposition 77 of the 199 seats in parliament. Fidesz would win for the fourth time in a row, but this time missed the two-thirds majority.

According to this investigation, which was published by the private TV channel RTL Klub, neither the far-right party “Mi Hazánk” (Our Fatherland) nor the satirical party “Party of the Two-tailed Dog” (MKKP) would make it to parliament. The only missing seat of the 199 would go to a representative of the German-speaking minority, who had always voted with Fidesz in previous years.

According to the electoral authority (NVI), turnout at 6:30 p.m. was 67.8 percent, just below the values of four years ago. Overall, it will likely be the third highest participation since 1990, after 2002 (70.53 percent) and 2018 (70.22 percent).
