Three men made a spectacular police operation last week in the border area of East and South Tirol. They broke through a police station and fled over a forest path. Eventually they were trapped at an unusual hiding place.
Scenes as in the film already took place on Friday evening in the border area between Eastern and South Tyrol. The trigger was a rental car that passed the border to Italy. Civil servants from East -Tirol had noticed the vehicle, they warned the Italian colleagues. The reason: three men from Colombia, Chile and Cuba would have been in the car.
They are suspected that they have committed ten burglaries in Carinthia and East Tyrol. After the border, the situation escalated: Carabinieri tried to place the trio with two roadblocks. These broke through the suspects at high speed and caused almost different accidents.
Escape ended after a collision against Baum in Heustelel
In Natz-Schabs the men continued to escape on a forest path. There, however, they crashed into a tree and fled on foot. About 20 officials converted the forest. They finally found what they were looking for in a hayadel where the men hid in the hay and on a trailer. One of the fleeting escaped again was discovered on a tree a little later.
All were arrested. A suspect would have committed a robbery in Rome in February. Gold chains and gold rings as well as bracelets and 2000 euros were secured in the car.
