Involved in protests – American court stops the student’s deportation

Date:

An American judge temporarily stopped the arrest and deportation of a South Korean student. Yunseo Chung had previously been involved in protests and she was accused of “handicap of the state administration”.

The 21-year-old student at Columbia University was contacted and temporarily arrested by the responsible university department for public safety. On Monday, Yunseo Chung subsequently sued the US government with the argument that “the enforcement of immigration regulations could not be used as a means of punishment”. In protests she would have expressed political views “that would be rejected by the current government”.

On Tuesday (local time) a judge in New York ordered the government to hire its efforts to find and deport the student.

Trump threatens the prison conditions for protests
