Four years in prison for Karl-Heinz Grasser have been final since Tuesday. But it is not nearly over with the judgment of the Supreme Court. Now for the convicts, the convicted person is also made financially. They are asked to check at different levels.
The Supreme Court decided. Minister of ex-finances Karl-Heinz Grasser has to go to prison. Four years that will actually be much less. Moreover, it is now also underway in the financial area. The private participant in the 56-year-old has to give the 56-year-old more gray hair.
13 million compensation
Grasser, Meischberger and former immophiner boss Petrikovics of the Republic must pay 9.6 million refunds of the amount of the Buwog committee-the former two also 200,000 euros for the Causa Terminal Tower. The Republic has an execution title 9.8 million, interested in four percent per year from November 2017: results in 13 million compensation that the trio (another convicted person with one part is liable). They are liable for solidarity, so that they can also be used individually for the entire debt.
“In the sense of taxpayers, we will also try to bring these amounts,” says Wolfgang Peschorn, head of financial power. In addition, there are the procedural costs that must be paid by the convicts – where these amounts are partially covered and accurately calculated by the first court. Here too it must go in millions.
Also not to underestimate the legal costs in the nearly 16 years of procedure. Grasser said in 2019 that the process had already cost him a total of 2.5 million euros.
“Unbearable circumstances” for procedural times
Speaking of figures: 5635 days, the procedure against Grasser and Co. Not only took the affected to speak of ‘unbearable circumstances’. Also the OGH chairman in his reasoning in the case of a mitigation. Former -Constitutional Minister Karoline Edtstadler described the exorbitant lengths in “criamamorosis” cases as a “civil death penalty” for the affected ones.
The then Minister of Justice Alma Zadic complained about too few resources. Given the coercion to save, this will not change so quickly in all departments.
