Used resources – Austria has reached its “overhoot day”

Date:

This year, Austria used all its natural resources on March 29 and commits its national “HOOL Day” that day. In the previous year this date fell to 7 April.

For the annual Earth’s Creation Day of each country, experts from the “Global Footprint Network” calculate when the earth’s buffer capacities are exceeded worldwide based on the “Biocapacity” and the ecological “need”.

Qatar Sad Leader, Uruguay in the soil
Austria leads the way in the ranking of Resource consumption. Incidentally, Qatar took the least account of the reserves of the earth, so that the state had his “Helding Day” behind him on 6 February. The last national “Het Day” falls on the positive soil of Uruguay on December 17.

Changed calculation method
While the World Heritage Day for Austria on 7 April meant the consumption of 3.7 earth, the arithmetic consumption this year increased to around 4.1. However, the method has been changed for the calculation of 2025, and therefore comparability was made more difficult, Greenpeace reports. This change does not mean that Austria has suddenly consumed considerably more resources – but is mainly due to a changed calculation method.

The CO2 allocation to international goods flows was adjusted, among other things. According to the NGO, this increases the calculated footprint of countries such as Austria, without real consumption changing. The world creation days of recent years are also recalculated with afterwards – and can shift accordingly.

In any case, this year’s World Creation Day will be celebrated on July 24 and the last National “Outing Day” will fall on the positive soil of Uruguay on December 17.
