Dramatic emergency situation in a popular excursion hostel near Leonding in Upper Austria. An 86-year-old accidentally got food in the windpipe when he chewed on a hambell and stopped a tip lifeless his heart beating. Two female guests, the landlord and a waiter reacted brilliant and successfully to the senior.
“We were just in the middle of the snack – suddenly Hans was brought down and lifeless on the couch,” says Manfred Mießbichler (81) of Linz. The pensioner was appointed to eat with his old friend Hans M. in the Niederberger Excursion Inn in Leonding on Thursday afternoon. “He ordered a hambell and I ordered a meat bread.”
While chewing, the 86-year-old was probably swallowed, a bit a bit in his windpipe. “He no longer touched and had no wrist – I was completely shocked,” said Mießbichler. Before he could respond, two women jumped up from an adjacent table and started resuscitation measures.
Run into
“The Hans had started blue and had a cardiac arrest. My waiter Ingomar and I supported the ladies in the revival – hat on what they did there,” says Herberg owner Karl Schatz (48). One of the first care providers is clearly a nurse.
The two men brought rubber gloves, a camping country and wet towels-this helped alternately with word-of-mouth ventilation and heart rhythm massage. “Thank goodness, it has succeeded in breathing back in Hans. He vomited, but the bite should have come loose in the windpipe. We then cast cold water over his head so that he did not throw away,” said Schatz.
Eyes open
After about ten minutes, the Red Cross paramedics and the emergency doctor arrived. “They put a venous catheter, gave infusions and gave oxygen.” Hans M. opened his eyes surprised and asked where he was. Schatz: “He didn’t want to go to the hospital at all, but is now there for observation and can probably get out on Monday. His daughter has already thanked us.”
Manfred Mießenbichler is overjoyed with the rescue of the friend and especially sprinkles the first two care providers Rosen: “They reacted perfectly. The emergency doctor said that the Hans would otherwise not live anymore.”
The most frightening in the medical incident in his restaurant in Leonding was for host Karl Schatz that there were guests who were quietly eaten soullantly during resuscitation measures, wanted to give orders and asked for reserved places.
In addition to the two women, none of the guests apparently thought to help the man live lifeless on the couch or at least offer help. A moral image that seems more and more, especially in the urban area. Maza and doctors also know how to sing a song that is often offended and threatened when they are not involved.
The “art” to look away in an emergency or to complain about helpers should not be normal.
