German rocket crashed after 30 seconds of flight

Date:

The German starting company Isar Aerospace launched a Carrier Rocket to everyone for the first time on Sunday. The flight of the “Spectrum” rocket took only 30 seconds and then collapsed in the sea off the coast of Norway (see video above). The aim at the Andoya Space Station is still celebrated as a “success”.

“Our first test flight met all our expectations and was a great success,” says Daniel Metzler, director and founder of the young company from Ottobrunn near Munich on Sunday. Two premieres were celebrated: For the first time, a space counter in continental Europe did not start from a Russian space station. It was also the first rocket launch in Europe, which was almost financed from private hands.

Starts from several times postponed
Anna Christmasman, space coordinator of the German government, spoke about a “milestone for German and European space travel”. The start “Spectrum” was previously postponed several times due to bad weather conditions. The successful start was shown on the live recordings. The rocket left and climbed vertically. A few moments later the “spectrum” got into trouble, became 180 degrees and awkward in the sea.

Test flight only served to collect data
According to the company, the Carrier Rocket can wear a load of up to 1000 kilograms and bring small and medium satellites into space in the future. The planned test flight only served to gain data and experiences. “Spectrum” is 28 meters long and is one of the so -driven microlaunchers. Isar Aerospace wants to compete with other small companies from Germany SpaceX from tech billionaire Elon Musk.
