Help was quickly provided in Freistadt (Upper Austria) to find a temporary home for 100-year-old Maria K. Now there is also an offer of help from Linz.
“If there really is no shelter for the lady in the Mühlviertel, we will take care of it and, due to the special circumstances, we will make an offer to the relatives for a place in a house in Linz,” said the mayor of Linz, Klaus Luger. had the fate of Maria K.
As is known, the 100-year-old from Freistadt even lived independently in her apartment until the end. But after a fall just over two weeks ago that broke her tailbone, she can only lie down and therefore needs a nursing home. However, finding one turned out to be a real gauntlet for the children of the elderly Mühlviertler who lived in Linz – both already 75 and 70 years old. Because in many houses beds are available, but there is a lack of staff.
“We have found a quick solution for the time being. Mrs. K. can stay in Lasberg for a minimum of six weeks for short-term care. With the possibility of an extension,” says Andrea Ausserweger, district governor of Freistadt. The goal is a lasting solution and safety for the 100-year-old.
