On Wednesday, a 34-year-old made a strange discovery on an internet platform in Vienna-Margareten: his bicycle, which had been stolen from him a few days earlier, was suddenly for sale online. In order to catch the perpetrator and get his bike back, he and the police tricked the online seller.
In consultation with the officials, the 34-year-old has set up a meeting point for the bicycle transfer with the online provider. However, he knew nothing of the actual plan behind the meeting.
Transferred at the point of delivery
A 35-year-old with the stolen bike eventually showed up next to him at the agreed meeting point. Shortly afterwards, the seller was approached by the police at the delivery location and arrested. However, the perpetrator declined to comment on the allegations when questioned at the scene.
