Bilbao airport beats its passenger record in March, while traffic rises in Foronda and Hondarribia

Loiu reached historical figures with more than half a million travelers in March, in a month without the usual impulse of the Holy Week. Foronda and Hondarribia also improved their data with regard to 2024.

Bilbao Airport has closed March with a new passenger record for that month: 530,744 people went through his facilities, what a 4.6 % increase With regard to the same period last year. This growth is even more relevant when considering that in 2025 the Holy Week will be celebrated in April, while it took place in March in 2024.

In the first three months of the year, Loiu Airport registered 1,311,092 passengers, 1 % more than in the first quarter of the previous year. National traffic rose by 1.9 %, with 317,475 users, and the International grew a remarkable 9.1 %, to reach 212,208 travelers.

With regard to the activities, March 4,200 registered Take -Offs and Landings in Bilbao, 7.3 % more than last year. In the collected from January to March, the movements reached 10,739, with an increase of 3 %.

Foronda Airport also improved its passenger figures in March, with 17,638 travelers, 0.7 % more than in 2024, despite the Easter calendar effect. In the first quarter, the increase is more important: 15.4 % more users than in the same period last year.

Freight trade in Foronda grew by 2.2 % to 5,974 tons in March, although in the quarter accumulated records a decrease of 4.5 %, with 17,050 tons. The number of operations fell by 3.5 % in March, although it rises by 2.1 % in the worldwide quarter.

From his part, the airport of Hondarribia March closed with 37,000 passengers, 8.4 % more than in 2024. The activities rose by 10 % by 453 movements. Since January, the airport has added 93,279 travelers and 1,161 flights, figures that represent a growth of 1.3 % and 5.9 % respectively.
