Victim seriously injured – young man assaults man over mobile phone photo

A 59-year-old was brutally assaulted in Oberwart (Burgenland) because he photographed young people with his mobile phone. The victim was seriously injured.

Wild scenes took place in the early hours of Wednesday morning in a bistro box in Oberwart. At this location full of vending machines, five young guests enjoyed a can of beer in a good mood. A 59-year-old came later. He sat down on a bar stool. A few minutes passed before the gentleman pulled out his cell phone and snapped a picture of the cozy gathering.

Then one of the young beer drinkers went crazy. He attacked the 59-year-old, grabbed him and threw him into a machine. The victim fought back. The attacker became even more violent, punching the man several times in the face and pushing him onto the sidewalk. According to an initial investigation by the Oberwart Recherche, the suspect then stepped on the seriously injured man. The brutal villain – dressed in a T-shirt as if in a dark psychological thriller – slammed the victim’s mobile phone on the floor.

Despite serious head injuries and covered in blood, the victim was able to drag himself 100 meters to a gas station. After first aid, the 59-year-old was taken to hospital. He suffered a fractured skull and a broken nose. He couldn’t remember the incident. But a security camera caught everything. Hunting! Information is requested under telephone number 059/1331240.
