An 81-year-old pensioner was seriously injured on Thursday morning during forest work in Berg ob Afritz in Carinthia. The man had to be rescued with a winch and flown to the accident hospital in Klagenfurt.
At around 10.45 am, the Afritzer wanted to pull a tree from the forest on the Frostraße with the winch of his tractor into a wooded area next to a forest road in Berg ob Afritz. When he started the winch, the tractor suddenly started rolling into the valley on its own. To bring it to a stop, the 81-year-old climbed on his back between the blade and the tractor and slid his right lower leg between the tractor and the winch.
Even the emergency services warned
Fortunately, the seriously injured man was able to start the rescue chain independently with his mobile phone. He received first aid from the crew of the rescue helicopter “RK1”, recovered with a winch and was flown to the accident hospital in Klagenfurt.
