The president of the Austrian officers’ Society, Erich Cibulka, also speaks for a possible mandatory conscription for women and demands a reform of fundamental military service because six months are short without exercises. He proposes an “Austria year” with eight months of service and four months of exercises. He also argues for a needs -oriented recruitment and mandatory civilian replacement service for unsuitable or non -volunteers. An expert committee is currently investigating a reform of military service.
