War law extended until August
In the meantime, War Act and Mobilization were extended in Ukraine by another 90 days until the beginning of August. More than two -thirds of the representatives voted for the applications of President Wolodyymyr Senskyj. War law would otherwise have expired on May 9.
“It is not only used for the defense of the country, but also for the establishment of an authoritarian regime,” criticized former president Petro Poroshenko, which is occupied with sanctions by Senskyj. The unlimited power of the presidential office over the MPs is humiliating for the country. War law, for example, is associated with the fact that no presidential or parliamentary elections are held. Moreover, conscripts between 18 and 60 years old can only leave the country in exceptional cases.
