In March, 15 paramedics were killed in the Gaza Strip after an Israeli attack on an ambulance – now the Israeli army has granted “mistakes” according to the tragedy. “Poor visibility” and ignored orders are the fault for the incident, it was argued.
The incident of 23 March had caused internationally indignantly: according to the Palestinian Red Reding Moon, eight of his medical employees, six members of civil protection and one UN employee were the fatalities. A week later the corpses were found in a mass grave by employees of the Red Half Moon and the United Nations. A paramedic survived.
Officer was criticized, a vice commander was released
After an investigation, the Israeli army now confessed that professional failure and violations of orders that had led to the drama. As a result, a command -male officer is reprimanded and a deputy commander is released. However, there was no attempt to hide the incident.
A video of the attack is shown in this post:
The army did not say whether a criminal complaint would be submitted to someone. “During the investigation, various professional failures, violations of commands and insufficient notification emerged,” said the statement.
The Israeli army initially stated that the Israeli soldiers had not “randomly” shot and had not made “execution”. It was rather a reaction to “real threats”. The soldiers had opened fire on suspicious vehicles that were in the dark without labeling or flashy lights. In addition, at least six of the 15 people were identified as Hamas members. Hamas rejected the statement.
Clearly recognizable on Video Blue Lights from mobile phones
After a video was discovered on the mobile phone of one of the dead, on which the blue light was clearly recognizable, the army partially changed its information. According to Palestinian information, it showed the last moments of the fatalities. There were ambulances that had turned headlights and flashy lights when the shots fell.
Shortly after the attack, the President of the Palestinian Red-Kop Moon, Younis al-Khatib, said that an autopsy of the 15 fatalities showed that all victims were “killed with the intention of killing” in the “upper part of her body”.
