A lion attacked and killed a 14-year-old girl in Kenya. Another teenager had observed the attack and raised the alarm – but all help came too late for the victim.
As the responsible nature Conservation Authority Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) announced on Sunday, the incident took place at a ranch south of the capital Nairobi.
“Rangers and teams were immediately mobilized and pursued traces of blood,” said the KWS. The traces would have led to the Mbagathi River “where the girl’s body was found with injuries to the lower back”.
The lion was not observed there, it said. A fall was set up for the lion and the area would also be combed in search of it.
