Everything is becoming more expensive: whether it’s gas, electricity, groceries or even the wood that provides cozy warmth in the living room during the cold months. Many Austrians therefore already stock logs per metre. Unfortunately, this is something that scammers know too. As if inflation weren’t enough, crooks now “sell” wood – which they never deliver.
Fake sites are currently growing on the internet like mushrooms out of the ground. The contents: temptingly cheap offers for beech wood and wood briquettes. The Watchlist Internet now also warns that these are in no way sparing our stock markets, but rather punch a hole in our finances. The crooks fake the websites in perfect German, there is even a printout.
Wood delivery will never arrive
However, we strongly discourage the price sensations that some online providers have. Because if you transfer the money, wood is never unloaded in front of the door. The scammers only collect the money but never get back to you after that. If you have already been fooled, report this to the police immediately.
