Police in the Lake Constance town of Lindau (D) were quite surprised when they were called to a light vehicle that had crashed into a curb on Wednesday afternoon. Behind the wheel: A 98-year-old man who used a very special seat cushion.
A witness told the Lindau Police Inspectorate by phone around 3 p.m. on Wednesday that a driver of a light vehicle had hit the curb on Herbergsweg. When a Lindau Police Inspectorate patrol arrived, officers found a 98-year-old man driving the vehicle.
Upon closer inspection of his vehicle, they noticed that he was using a briefcase as a booster seat. The officials pointed out the inadmissibility to the man and removed the suitcase. The man then stated that he could no longer drive.
Due to his general health, officials prohibited him from continuing his journey, confiscated the key to the vehicle and gave it to his wife. The officers also informed the driver’s license authority about the incident.
