Europa Ballett concerned – floods halt training: dancers take ‘break’

Date:

All training halls of the Europaballett St. Pölten were flooded by masses of water. The search for alternative accommodation is underway – the motto is to stay fit.

“We will not give up!” The clear message from Michael Fichtenbaum. The director of the Europaballett St. Pölten and his dancers were, like many others, affected by the flooding. The groundwater in particular is still causing problems here. All training halls in the Wagram Cultural Center were flooded, and some are still under water. That is why a feverish search is being made for replacement training facilities. Wet walls and waterlogged wooden floors make the existing rooms unusable.

The most important question is: how do we continue? Because daily training is crucial for the dancers in St. Pölten. “It is a big catastrophe,” says Philipp Preiss of Europaballett.

Alternative housing is being sought
Attempts are currently underway to restore some normalcy between the hoses and cables. The rehearsal program began again on Wednesday under completely different circumstances. “Especially the children and young people in the academy classes have to get back to work with the art quickly. We were assured of help from the city and the state,” Fichtenbaum said. Possible alternative accommodations are also in sight.
