Southeast Styrian Stefan Kniiel starts a different kind of fitness program in Fehring on Saturday – and hopes for many cancer donations. The “Kraftlackl” trains up to 37 hours a week for the extreme challenge.
The extreme athlete of Fehringer Stefan Kniely (33) goes physically further than the limits you cannot imagine as a normal mortal. On Saturday (April 26) he starts a world record attempt in so-called Murph training sessions in the Fehringer Sports Hall (start: 1 hour). This extreme training program, named after a lieutenant, consists of 1.6 kilometers, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 squats and then again 1.6 kilometers.
Kniiel, who has already set up the World Record 2022 with 19 runs, wants to be the first person to break him in the world a second time – with 21 points in 24 hours. This includes 67 kilometers of running, 2100 pulls, 4200 pushups and 6300 squats! Usually the Southeast Styriaan, the father of a daughter and in the financial sector, is fully sealed in the days before the project, but he made an exception for the “Styrian Crown” interview.
37 hours a week and 75,000 pulls -ups
“I trained for a year and a half for the album, I came to 37 hours of training per week and do everything alone, from food to training programs. The stress on the body is of course extreme. For example, about 75,000 pull -ups are increased during the entire preparation time.”
Despite all the extremes, Kniely, who launched the company ‘South East Performance Styria’, is aware of the risk: ‘But I know the limits of my body exactly – knows exactly when it is too much and I am grateful that I have the opportunity to break this record.’
Thousands of euros for childhood cancer help
There is also a large part of the heart behind the world record attempt. Kniely collects donations for the Styran children’s cancer help. Already with his last record, proud 12,000 euros came together.
“My father died of cancer. I want to help that children don’t have to suffer the same fate.” That is why everyone can stop donating in the Fehringer Sports Hall on Saturday. “As much as possible, because then this possible world record would have a particularly beautiful feeling,” hopes the strong Styrian.
