The ceasefire coincides with the celebrations of the Victory Day of 9 May.
The Russian president, Vladimir Putin, announced a reinforcement of three days from 8 to 11 May on Monday for the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Soviet Union over Nazi Germany in the Second World War, which will be celebrated on 9 May.
The high fire will come into effect at midnight from 7 to 8 May and will win 72 hours later at midnight from 10 to 11, as reported by Kremlin in a statement.
The memorandum emphasizes that the decision of the truce was adopted by the supreme commander of the armed forces, Vladimir Putin, “for humanitarian reasons.”
“Russia believes that the Ukrainian part should follow this example,” he said.
In the event that Ukraine violates the ceasefire, he adds: “The Russian forces will give an adequate and effective response.”
On 19 April, Russia already unilaterally declared a truce on the occasion of the Orthodox Easter, with which Kyiv was connected shortly thereafter.
