In Austria there is a disturbing trend in the shadow of the total decreasing number of roads: the number of fatal accidents under the influence of medicines has reached a maximum of 2024 since the systematic admission.
Twelve people died last year at drug cases in road traffic and have so much than ever since the start of the recording in 2012.
The Austria statistics published this evaluation on Wednesday together with the final traffic figures for 2024. A total of 176 accidents with medicines with personal injury took place an increase of 16 percent compared to the previous year.
Six of the twelve were killed under the influence of drugs, the other six fatalities were not influenced by drugs. 88 percent of the steering wheel involved in the 176 drug cases with personal damage and pedestrians were men who were drug influence.
Detail of road deaths
However, the total number of road deaths in Austria went back: 351 people, including 270 men, died in the streets of Austria. Statistics Austria spoke about 13 percent compared to 2023 and the second lowest value in 63 years compared.
On the other hand, an increase of eight percent of the seriously injured (7774) was registered. About 36 percent of all seriously injured victims of accidents and therefore the majority were drivers of wheels and e-scooters.
