Traditionally, a large mayypole will be set up in many places on May 1. In a village in the German North Rhine-Westphalia there was an accident this year: the trunk fell into a group of people and injured five people (see video above).
Two of them were seriously injured, one person had to be taken to a hospital with the rescue helicopter. According to the police, there is no danger to life. The injured were between 35 and 72 years old and all were taken to the surrounding hospitals.
The accident took place on Thursday at 1.20 p.m. In the village of Saelhuysen in the Kleve district (North Rhine-Westphalia). When the MayPole performs, it was canceled for an unknown cause and “fell to a larger number of people,” it said. The criminal police are investigating, so far an accident has been assumed.
