A final wish of Pope Francis becomes a reality: his armored Papamobil is being converted into an outpatient clinic for mobile children for the Gaza Strip. The medically equipped vehicle is to help children in the crisis region, where the health system has almost completely collapsed, after opening the humanitarian corridor.
The pope, who died on Easter Monday, had asked this before his death of Caritas Jerusalem, reported the Milan daily “Corriere della Sera” (Monday).
From the comfortable carriage to life salvation
In the vehicle occupied by a driver and doctor, devices and treatments, fast tests for infections, spraying, needles, oxygen supply and a fridge for vaccines and medication must be set up.
The Papamobile is an armored vehicle with large slices. It is specially developed for popes, so that you can comfortably take and protect a bath in the crowd.
Healthcare in Gaza collapsed completely
If the humanitarian corridor for Gaza is reopened, the “New Papamobile” should be able to help the children of the comic. The Israeli army has not been able to do auxiliary supplies for more than two months.
“We will be able to reach children who do not have access to the health system in Gaza today, which has almost completely collapsed,” says Peter Brunel, head of Caritas Sweden, who supports his colleagues at work in Gaza.
