In the compulsory schools of Vienna, the pressure on educators continues to grow by parents with legal advisers. You also often feel alone.
Teacher representative Thomas Krebs increases the alarm. In the “Kroon” he reported that more and more teachers in Viennese mandatory schools are struggling with violent children. The so -driven group of the “Systempenger” is now a dramatic disruptive factor in school activities.
Already 70 percent victim of violence
According to a current survey, around 75 percent are confronted with such students among a few hundred teachers. Particularly frightening: 68 percent of the teachers surveyed have already experienced violence by students. The “Kroon” reported. But the educators hardly get any support: only 18 percent feel supported by social work at school or school psychology. The police are just mentioned by three percent as help – only 0.6 percent speak of the responsible authorities. Almost a third is all alone.
Parents switch on lawyers
And increasingly they are also involved in a new, unexpected opponent: the legally armed parent. “In recent months, cases where parents are involved in lawyers to act against teachers,” Krebs explains. Ten percent of the educators surveyed had already dealt with lawyers directly. Pedagogues report legal threats, tries to intimidate through law enforcement letters. “Some lawyers seem to recognize a new business area in school,” says Krebs.
New business model?
A particularly absurd example: in one case a lawyer insisted on his clients to take further legal steps against a school – although the conflict between parents and teachers had long emerged. The parents were even satisfied with the behavior of the school. Cancer now calls for better support from the official side against this new trend.
