200 rough sleepers in the country – “The number of unreported cases is at least twice as high”

Date:

FPÖ state party leader Markus Abwerzger speaks in an interview with the “Krone” about, among other things, the problem of dangerous people in our society, deportations as a solution, the increased terror alert level in the country, pro-Hamas demonstrations and the asylum costs for the state alone Tyrol in the coming year 2024 – notable examples included.

“Krone”: Austria raised its terror alert level in October and has since reached the second highest danger level. It is also no secret that we have potential threats – so-called sleepers – in the country.
Markus Abwerzger: That’s right. According to the Ministry of the Interior, there are approximately 200 nationally; the number of unreported cases is at least twice as high. The attacker in Vienna, who shot about three years ago, had, among other things, previously been convicted of a terrorist organization, was released on parole, had to fulfill conditions – and yet the Secret Service and the Office for the Protection of the Constitution were unable to seamlessly arrest him to monitor. If this is not possible for such people, where their problem is clearly visible, how is it supposed to work for the approximately 200 to 400 sleepers? That makes me feel uncomfortable.
