The Lauterach volunteer fire brigade in Vorarlberg had anything but a quiet Saturday morning. The reason: a lawnmower slid into a hedge on the railway embankment and set it on fire.
Saturday at 9.30 am, the Lauterach volunteer fire brigade was alerted for a fire operation in Bahnhofsstrasse 40a. A man was driving his lawnmower tractor on the railway embankment when the vehicle slid into a hedge.
No injuries
Then everything happened in a flash: the dry hedge – presumably – caught fire from the hot exhaust of the vehicle. The flames spread quickly. Fortunately, no one was injured, but the lawnmower tractor, hedge and a swimming pool suffered significant damage.
