Few will have noticed it, but it has been there: strictly speaking since the early evening of April 29, as a tree Lady Greta, who has been living in the Salzburg dieren garden since the end of March of this year. “That came a bit unexpected. However, it was a very nice surprise,” says director Sabine Grebner.
As usual with the spiky tree residents, the individual young animal was born on the ground. There it is placed in a protected location and usually delivered by the mother at night. After the offspring developed completely and was born with spines that heal shortly after birth, but then little moves, he hardly pulls the eye. “This is what nature is meant,” says curator Lisa Sernow.
“In the first few days our young animal lay in the straw bed at the door of the interior. Initially it was seen from the upper visitor’s path, but it was easily overlooked.”
