New Regulation – Second Physics: Children Trick Smartphone Ban

Date:

Smartphones have been taboo in the classrooms for a week due to new regulations. This apparently makes it inventive, as teacher representative Paul Kimberger describes. Although nothing has changed in most schools, a director also reports positive consequences of the short story.

It makes it necessary – apparently this applies to some students with a view to the new ban on mobile phones. The smartphone in the class has been taboo in class since 1 May. “We get the feedback from the schools that there is the phenomenon of second and third mobile phones,” says Paul Kimberger, teacher representative of the compulsory schools in Upper Austria. Means: Some children give a device from the teacher and then continue to play with their second during the break.

Balance of the ban on mobile phones
The smartphones are now forbidden to the 8th school level. Teachers can allow use for educational purposes. Apart from the inventive students: what does the first balance look like after a week of ban on mobile phones? “The schools have had their own rules for a long time. The regulation does not change quality,” Kimberger replies.

A “crown” call at different schools also confirms the impression: the short story has little effect. “We have had the ban on mobile phones for years,” says Andrea Grahamer, director of the St. Martin Middle School in the Innkreis.

“Children have more of the game”
The ban on mobile phones is also anchored in the house rules at the Middle School Purg. “It is new that at school events such as sports weeks the mobile phone is only available at certain times,” says director Michaela Oberlitner.

Her ten to 13-year-old students were something like the guinea pigs last week: during the project week they were only allowed to use their mobile phone for an hour a day. “In the beginning it led to grumbling,” says Oberlitner. Towards the end of the project week, on the contrary, on the contrary: “The children came back to phases of the game because they had to be treated differently.”

“Prohibition of mobile phones? That has long been with us”-That was the standard reaction when calling the school circuit of the “Kroon”. The new government regulation can be sold well and it has hardly any consequences in practice.

And whether a ban is really the last conclusion of wisdom? Often things get their charm for young people because they are not allowed. More sustainable than a “you are not allowed” an “you shouldn’t do that because.” But that cannot be printed so easily and popularly printed in a change in the law.
