By a flood of questions – hotlines overloaded: eternity on hold

Date:

A “Krone” reader hung in the AUA queue for hours – then it flew off the line! The ÖBB hotline is also overloaded. Both companies have since responded. Due to the crowds, the accessibility of the ÖBB call center was extended until midnight. To avoid problems in the future, federal railroads have now increased their workforce by 30 percent.

“We bought eight flights from AUA in March at the most expensive Flexi fare with free rebooking,” said a Krone reader. When he actually had to change travel plans, he called the dedicated hotline several times. There he got stuck in the monotonous endless line and flew off the line after more than an hour and a half.

In her desperation to lose the flights worth a total of 1500 euros, the wife of the “Krone” reader resorted to the last available means – she personally drove from Vienna to the airport.

Problems with almost all airlines
Only after some wandering – Schwechat no longer has its own AUA counter – did the customer come across a friendly ground staff lady who helped with the rebooking. At the AUA, the problems, which incidentally affect almost all lines, are openly admitted.

“Call volume has increased enormously due to the current problems in the aviation industry. It really takes longer that way,” he says.

“wait 35 seconds”
As with the ÖBB, which has to deal with a veritable stream of requests due to significantly more travelers, the workforce is being expanded. ÖBB managed to reduce call center waiting times to ten minutes. “It’s about 35 seconds ahead of us at the moment,” assures Ines Volpert, spokeswoman for the “Neue Westbahn”.

The “Krone” put it to the test. Every second someone answered the hotline.
