Observant neighbors saw black smoke billowing from the garage of an elderly retiree (83) in Carinthia after a car had caught fire. But the men knew how to help themselves.
Around 7.30 pm, 83-year-old Grafensteiner parked his car in the garage of his building and entered the house. A few minutes later, just before 8 p.m., an alert neighbor noticed black smoke coming from the garage and raised the alarm. For unknown reasons, a fire broke out in the engine compartment of the vehicle.
Burning car removed from garage
While the Grafenstein volunteer fire brigade was alerted, a neighbor did not hesitate and pulled the burning car out of the garage into the street using a tractor. The 22 volunteers of FF Grafenstein were able to quickly extinguish the fire. The vehicle was a total loss and no one was injured.
