After the serious collision of two motor boats on the Danube near Klosterneuburg on Saturday afternoon, new details about the course of the accident are now available. In total, six people were injured – one of them seriously.
According to the police, there were a 58-year-old boot driver, two of his family members (14 and 40 years old) and another family with three people between 12 and 55 years old at the time of the collision. The second boat was checked by a 46-year-old and three family members between ten years and 42 were also on board.
Both returns arose in the same direction
According to the first testimonies, the 58-year-old would have tried to turn his boat while the 46-year-old ran straight ahead pulled an inflatable water sports device, a so-called water banana on which two children (12 and 14 years old) were sitting. Both boat men would have recognized the approaching collision, but apparently originated in the same direction – the collision could no longer be prevented.
46-year-old was unconscious
The front of one boat crashed against the back of the other. The 46-year-old was thrown overboard and got into the current ship’s screw with his legs. He suffered serious injury and had to be pulled out of the water unconscious. Witnesses immediately provided first aid.
Investigate
All injuries were cared for and taken to the hospital. The two boats were considerably damaged-the vehicle of the 46-year-old was so seriously affected that it was partially fell. The investigation into the exact cause of the accident is still ongoing.
