Tragedy in Friuli – Missing man found dead in river in northern Italy

After three young people were swept away by the Natisone River in the northern Italian province of Udine at the end of May, the body of the last missing person was recovered on Sunday.

The 25-year-old Romanian, together with two friends from his home country, aged 20 and 23, were swept away by the river, which was created after storms. The bodies of the two women were recovered two days after the accident.

Found not far from the accident scene
The man’s body was found on Sunday a few hundred meters from the scene of the accident. The three friends were in the municipality of Premariacco, not far from the river, because they wanted to take photos when they were captured. Witnesses saw the accident and called for help.

The missing person is a Romanian who had visited his brother in Austria before traveling to the province of Udine. He wanted to visit his girlfriend in Italy.

Search that lasted days
Heavy storms were raging in Friuli when the accident occurred. Helicopters and rescue teams from the Udine Civil Defense took part in the search for days.
