More military aid – Biden condemns Putin’s attacks “vigorously”

Date:

US President Joe Biden has “firmly” condemned Russian missile attacks on Ukraine. They again showed “the extreme brutality of Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin’s illegal war” against the Ukrainian people, Biden said Monday. The attacks encouraged the US government to assist the Ukrainian people for as long as necessary. Russia will continue to be held accountable along with international partners.

“We again call on Russia to immediately end this unprovoked aggression and withdraw its troops from Ukraine,” Biden said. “These attacks have killed and injured civilians and destroyed targets that served no military purpose,” the presidential office said in a statement.

More military aid to Ukraine
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken assured his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba in a telephone call of the US government’s “steadfast economic, humanitarian and security assistance” in light of the attacks. Biden has also promised Zelensky further military aid “including advanced air defense systems”. Biden assured the Ukrainian president in a phone call that he would “continue to supply Ukraine with everything it needs for its defense,” the White House in Washington said Monday.

Multiple dead in nationwide attacks
The US president also expressed his condolences to Zelenskyy after the massive Russian airstrikes on Kiev and other Ukrainian cities. Monday’s attacks, which killed several people across the country, are seen as the Kremlin’s response to the explosion at the bridge to the annexed Crimean peninsula, which is of strategic importance to Russia.
