The Levante Board of Directors and the team’s sports director, Felipe Minambresagreed on Monday to sack the Franco-Tunisian coach Mehdi Nafti. Miñambres himself will oversee the team on a temporary basis until a new coach is hired, according to the Granota club in a statement.
Nafti’s sacking came just hours after the coach led a work session at Ciudad Deportiva and a day after losing to Santander Racing (0-1) and chain the third defeat in the last month. The I raised, with ten points (two wins, four draws and three losses) he is only two above the relegation zone in First RFEF.
Levante thanked Nafti and to his coaching staff “for their involvement, commitment, work and closeness at all levels of the club” and wish them “the best of luck personally and professionally”.
Fifth Granota coach in one year
Levante’s sports director, Felipe Miñambres, will temporarily sit on the bench this Thursday against CD Miranda, after the dismissal of Mehdi Nafti, and will be the fifth coach of the Valencian team in a year.
The French-Tunisian replaced the Italian in the office Alessio Lisci, who directed Levante between December 2021 and May 2022 and could not avoid relegation to the Second Division. Lisci is on the bench I raised twenty three matches and achieved eight wins.
Lisci, who until then was the coach of the subsidiary, replaced the coach from Badajoz Javier Pereirawho spent just seven games as coach of Levante, between October and November 2021, and arrived at Valencia in place of Paco López.
