Of all the people in the return journey after the long weekend, the South car in Styria took place on Sunday: a burning vehicle in the packaging section resulted in long locks in both directions.
The Ligist Volunteer Fire Brigade had already been warned on a very similar business on Friday: a car was completely burned out on the Steinberg. Despite the enormous development of smoke, the flames could be prevented, the limitations for traffic were limited.
Lenant and family unharmed, road damage and leading walls
Not so on Sunday afternoon when the car of a lower Austrian driver between Modriach and Steinberg suddenly started to burn to Graz. The 48-year-old was able to park the car on the demolition strip and, together with his wife and the two children, flee out of the vehicle on time. All passengers remained unharmed.
However, the effects were serious: the first attempts to extinguish with accidentally passing helpers failed, only the fire brigades from Ligist and Steinberg could control the fire under heavy respiratory protection. An adjacent dike had also set fire to and the concrete guidelines were also influenced. According to the highway master, the damaged asphalt must be renewed on a good 30 square meter.
Full release only after three hours
According to ASFINAG, the highway was completely blocked in both directions during the extinguishing work, and only after approximately three hours could all job be released. The inevitable traffic jams put drivers on a tough test of patience.
