A horrible tragedy took place on Monday afternoon on the route of the Linz Local Railway (Lilo) in Eferting’s ownership in Upper Austria. A boy was hit by a set and suffered fatal injuries. Despite immediately initiated rescue chain, the child could no longer be saved.
It was initially unclear how the terrible accident could occur. The boy, who is said to have been on the road with a bicycle, was admitted around 4.30 p.m. In the field of the industrial area in the city of Eferting by an in -house rail car from the Linz Local Train.
Child was trapped
The child was apparently clamped between the edge of the platform and the track system. Unfortunately there was no salvation for the boy, his injuries were so difficult that he died on the scene of the accident. Firefighters had to mount him.
Two rescue cars and an emergency doctor were in use. In the beginning a helicopter was also requested, but was then canceled because of the hopeless situation.
Family members shocked
Four employees of the Crisis Intervention Team of the Red Cross were also used. They took care of the shocked family members who had come to the scene of the accident. The Eferting Fire Brigade provided them with the fire station in the short term. Passengers on the train also had to be cared for.
