Everything cooks in Gmunden in these minutes: as reported, 79 disabled people fly from the nursing home of a country. When visiting the responsible ÖVP State Council, the emotions went up. The protests of family members, residents and nurses were loud.
The social department of the country has specified the schedule for the relocation: by the end of 2025, a good 20 residents must switch to the old human and nursing home in Pfaffing. There, Caritas is currently operating a facility in which 18 people with disabilities are provided. The remaining inhabitants of Cumberland are divided into other free places in the area, but 14 must also switch to a state facility in Christkindl.
79 people currently live in State Care and Care Center Cumber Castle in Gmunden. “Some of them are 20 or 30 years old,” says a supervisor: “You have become used to the environment here, it is not that you are now being torn from your living environment. We are all family here. This has been destroyed.”
Loud
When visiting the state council on the spot it was hot. Even when the ÖVP politician Christian Dörfel, accompanied by his office manager, climbed out of the car, echoded loud BOO calls. It was agreed in advance that Dörfel sounds the concerns and needs of those who are directly affected on the spot. It became a general explanation with the social policy of the country – direct and up close.
Dörfel, however, stayed with the loud conversation and defended the long -term plan: “Everything will come as it was agreed.”
