Police in Carson City, Nevada, are dealing with an extremely strange case: A family of seven secretly lived in a city museum. Authorities also found weapons, silencers and traces of drug use in the building.
Wilbert Calhoun, 41, a janitor at the Children’s Museum, became a suspect when an unattended two-year-old was picked up near the museum.
After a tip from the janitor’s eldest daughter, officials investigated the museum.
Local sheriff Jen Furlong said several weapons were seized, which he said was “deeply disturbing”. Silencers and traces of drug use were also found.
Calhoun was subsequently arrested. The janitor is charged with child neglect and possession of a muffler and gun.
Neighbors say five children and two adults lived in the building. It’s unclear if Calhoun’s wife, who runs the museum, will face legal action. The couple was fired after the incident.
