With water guns against the unpopular tourists

Date:

The uprising against mass tourism in Spain is going on – for this Saturday, organizations have again called for Marsen. In the Catalan metropolis, the demonstrators are supposed to “arm” with water guns and miss a load for the unloved guests.

Many locals have removed their nose. More than twelve million people are looking for the pulsating Mediterranean Metropolis house every year. According to Spanish media reports, five million people visit the Güell Famosen Park and amazes the – still not complete – Sagrada Família. In addition, thousands of day tourists, who hanging from cruise ships for a few hours, have created the streets around the Las Ramblas and hide the alleys in the Gothic neighborhood.

Drink and talk late night on the balconies
A few days ago, activist Elena Boschi announced for the media representatives present: “We want tourists to have a certain amount of fear of the situation, because there is no change without fear.”

Even cultural taboo breaks put the proud residents on the palm almost every mild summer evening. In the residential areas, where countless Airbnb accommodations have been installed, the short-term guests are on the balconies, drinks and talking until late in the evening. A no-go in the former employees, especially among the older residents. Rising rental prices due to the short -term rental open the door and gate the party tourism and expels the locals from the city.

Mayor Jaume Collboni caused a commotion in the previous year when he announced that he forbade the rent of holiday apartments in the second largest city in Spain towards the end of 2028. About 10,000 accommodations must be closed for tourists and again to the regular housing market. The Spanish Constitutional Court confirms the prohibition this year after the objections of Airbnb and rejects the owners’ profession.

And although 125,000 jobs are firmly anchored in the tourism sector and almost 15 percent of the city’s economy form this industry, the opponents of mass tourism argue. How is it still unclear …
