In the course of the austerity course it is now huge in Styria: Social Councilor Hannes Amesbauer (FPö) cuts eleven percent of the financing – clubs that work in the field of integration are mainly influenced. “Many people lose their job,” says the circles of the affected.
In the weekend after the murderous Spree in Graz there are many styric social associations in shock. A serious e -mail arrived on Friday. It contains short and short: the cancellation for subsidies in the social area. All in all it is around 2.5 million euros.
“The letter came without warning, the cancellation without an explanation,” says Joe Niedermayer, board member of the Rosalila Pantherinen. State financing of the social department for the amount of 30,000 euros is now being removed “the” association. Financing that was paid for the LGBTQ organization for 30 years.
“Actually, the budget of the previous government was still approved for the whole year. But then it was said that we should re -use requests for the second half of 2025,” Niedermayer explains. Section 11 for social, work and integration led by the State Council Hannes Amesbauer (FPö) has now taken – there is no or considerably less money for dozens of styric clubs.
Savings are made in migration
It is said from the State Council’s office that the predecessor of Amesbau, Doris Kampus, has approved more than half of the available funds (11.7 of 21.4 million euros) for the first half of the year: “For the second half of 2025, a total of 11.5 million euros of 214 financing applications were received.” To save, the focus has been reset: while fighting poverty, violence, admission to the disabled and the well -being of children and young people, the shelter sector is reduced to almost the same extent. Reason: Integration was defined as a debut in the government program.
“It is important for me that the funds in the social sector – especially those discretion are – come first for those styians who need our help or have not come in need by any debt,” Amesbauer emphasizes. He is denied against criticism that is saved in the protection of violence: in the second half of the year there was 1,395 million euros, in the first half of the year (under the campus) it was 1,357 million euros. “Some projects, mainly in the field of migration clubs, were rejected by a different focus.”
Social organizations Network
A hard blow is the new rule for Alexandra Köck, who, as director of Zebra, mainly supports people with a migration background: “This has a very massive impact on us as an organization and everyone is affected. Above all, advisory services are affected.”
On the occasion, Köck organized a joint meeting of the social associations for Monday. Caritas also confirms that you want to talk together at the start of the week. Even Caritas as a major aid organization is not spared the deletions.
“Positions that have so far been stored alone by financing are now dead,” says Niedermayer, “Many people lose their jobs.” In a conversation he would have liked to explain that deletions in the long term can lead to even higher costs. But there is no interest in an exchange: “It was always important for us to have good relationships with all parties. Not talking, that is undemocratic.”
