Hard to believe, but true! Günter Brugger from Upper Carinthia has collected more than a million beer capsules. Not for fun – but for a good cause. Because the capsules have a value.
Günter Brugger kept the countless beer capsules in warehouses in large bags. “A good six years ago I took over this beer capsule from a friend because his storage capacities were busy,” the Oberkartner Transport Company recalls. And since then he has been collected. “Of course I didn’t drink all the beer bottles,” laughs the 57-year-old. On the contrary, because the estimated one million pieces of capsules even come from far away.
But now his storage capacities are also busy. “We are talking about 40 cubic meters,” estimates Brugger.
Donations for charity
That is why it’s time to donate. “The capsules will be brought by Energie AG on 20 June and delivered to the scrap company ‘De Piero Schrott’, there they are then used.” Due to the charity campaign, the scrap company then wants to double the price of the capsules. “A good sum comes together,” says Brugger. The proceeds then go to the non -profit Seebodener Association “Purzelbaum”, which mainly works for children.
Brugger will continue to collect beer capsules, “but no longer on a large scale”. So if you want to help, you can deliver the capsules to Brugger in Lieserhofen – Katschbergstraße 1.
